Gremlins toying with me

Gremlins toying with me
Warning - irritating noise content.
My 4000 mile old 1989 FLHS Electra glide is running beautifully, after much advice from the good members here.
The gremlins are driving me mad though.
As I roll off the throttle a gremlin runs his thumbnail along the teeth of a comb Bbbbbrrrrrrrzzzzzz!
We all know that noise from when we did it at school.
Its matched to engine revs, not to bike speed, and I have looked everywhere for it. It happens in all gears and neutral, rolling off the throttle, and I can even control its noise level, its louder completely off the throttle, quieter keeping a little throttle on.
As my bike is the last remaining Harley in the world with standard pipes, I get the pleasure (or not) of hearing this noise.
When I am moving, it happens when I rev with clutch lever pulled in, but when I stop to look for it, I cannot make it happen.
I am hoping that the experts here will now all be nodding knowingly in unison, a small smile playing across the faces.
So, let me in on the secret, what is the gremlin doing?
I will say it again, its engine speed related, not bike speed, rather like a harmonic vibration induced buzz.
Many thanks for your thoughts.
