Yeah, the 40 of them I've run through in the last 24 years were absolute crap. I keep wearing them out.

 

You know it's baffled me for years on how Dunlop could make a great tire (the elite series) and a crappy tire (400 series) at the same time.
Makes more sense now that I know Dunlop doesn't actually make the 400 series tire.

 

Anyone remember the Dunlop K-181 tire? They followed every raingroove.

Damn now I'm back to being baffled as to why Dunlop makes a great tire and a crappy one....

 

I always ran the 402s on my 1994 & 2002 Electra Glides. I never had a problem with them and I've ridden over 200,000 miles with them. I'm not hard on the tries and I don't push the bike as far as handling. With the 402s, I would get 12,000 out of a rear tire nd 24,000 out of a front.

 

Over the last 33 yrs, and 285,000 mi or so on my 1985 FXR...I've gotten pretty much the same results with Dunlop 400 series tires as GuineaPig.
In that time I have run several other brands for various reasons, but never have a problem going back to the Dunlops on my bike.

 

On my Heritage I've never been able to get over 9,000 miles out of a 402 and 7,500-8,000 is more typical. I'm an old man and I ride like one. I maintain the inflation scrupulously, and I've never gotten that kind of mileage. Where can I buy some of those magic 402s?
