all I have is 4 piece 86 - 87 type bottom breather with fixed sprocket shaft and the early pinion that is replaceable and takes shovel gearing

I appreciate yalls help. Was thinking about trying to tig the splines back on and trying to file them back down to wear they need to be if possible.

while I have never heard of anyone trying to do what you are thinking of .I don't believe I would ever even consider doing that ...there is no way you will ever get it right, and the chnaces of a failure are very high and this time, you might not be lucky...maybe going down the road at a good clip and it break and lock everything up...that would be a bad slide... reconsider.

Now guys... Nothing's impossible. The Pakistanis make 1911's out of a block of steel with nothing but a file. If they can do that, well, sure, you could TIG that back up, chuck the bike up in a lathe (use the 4 jaw chuck), spin it and turn that thing back to round, then file in the grooves. Why not?
