Default Got ahead of myself

I started working on the carb of my 92 Heritage Softail to update it with CV Performance parts and got ahead of myself. I assumed the carb hadn't been worked on and removed the only metal plug I saw that I thought covered the mixture screw was to install the EZ-Just mixture screw. The problem is that the carb had been worked on before and the plug over the mixture screw had already been removed. I removed this plug and have no idea how to fix this. Anyone Know if this is a problem and how to fix it?

Yeah, that's a problem. That plug (which covers an opening used to give access during initial manufacturing) needs to be there.

Shouldn't be a problem to tap in a new plug. I don't know if you can buy just one. Might see if CV Performance has them. I do know there are assortment kits out there. Do a google on "aluminum carburetor plug set".

Search the term "Welch plug" it might help you out IF you can't find the OEM part. If you already removed, then measure the plug and the bore so you can find the correct size, again IF you can't find the OEM plug. A little blue loctite (very little on the edge of the plug only) will help seal and hold the replacement in place. YD

Thanks for the suggestions. Texashillcountry, I would love to take your suggestion, you got one of those Super E's laying around collecting dust?

Not collecting dust but it is mounted to my EVO motor that I took out of my Heritage when I installed the 111.

There's nothing wrong with the CV! Thats just THC. He is to S&S carbs like Traildog is to Seafoam!

A properly cleaned and tuned CV is a great carb.

Find or buy some pipe thread taps and put a pipe plug in it with sealant on the threads. Just make sure the hole is the correct size for the pipe tap or it will split the hole. Try and find a pipe plug with a allen head in it and the plug will be undetectable.

They're all over ebay and you should be able to find 20 of them at any swap meet. Great carbs. I've been running Super E's and B's since the late
70's.

You know that saying "Nothing runs like a Deer" well when it comes to carburetors "Nothing out performs an S&S.... Nothing).... It has to do with the tapered venturi that actually increases air velocity to improve fuel atomization...
