jimh,

I didn't put in a baker, but I did put an Ultima 6 speed in my 1990 Ultra classic a few weeks ago. I didn't have to do a lot of anything, but pull the old gear set out and put the new gear set in. I did have some issues because of a race brace, but thats a whole different story. All of it is covered in the thread about the "107 Ultima In a 90 dresser"

Does it change the first 5 gear ratios or does it just add an over drive?

Just curious and I have been thinking about putting one in mine.

Maybe its me or something that you need to adjust to over time but I wasn't knocked out when I drove the kids Street Bob 6speed. It seemed to be a dog in 6th on the 4 lane highway when I moved to the left laneto pass a car. I didn't expect it to be a speed demon, I just wasn't that impressed.

What am I missing about the 6 speed ?

hi guys
adding a 6 gear overdrive will drop performance at highway speed when passing you find it best to go back to 5th
butit wii give you a higher top speed

are the new hd 6spds actually and overdrive? some reason I thought there final drive was 1 to 1
the same as 4spd in forth or evo/twinkie in 5th all are at the same gear ratio. I have know idea abou the new stuff.
