can an 87 evo case be bored to accept a 96" big bore with no case integrity problems?? i know some cases from the 90s had problems..thnx in advance...ced
Anytime you bore out an Evo case to accept the big bore cylinders, you can run into problems as there isn't a lot of meat left. The problem is even worse with the '13/16th" cylinders. Aftermarket cases aren't that expensive and they have extra meat in all the right places.

couldnt agree more, i recently purchased a set of delkron cases for 700 off ebay....... much better quality than factory hd stuff.
I wouldn't do it! Later evo cases have more meat on them that yours. You can stroke your motor to 89", which I did to my 1990, otherwise fit later cases as suggested. When I started looking at doing that for my original motor I decided it was not much more cost and less trouble to fit a fresh motor. I am running an S&S 107 now, so be warned - messing with motors can get expensive!
