Thunderheader on 80"
I have a chance to pick up a Thunderheader 2 into 1 in almost new condition for a good price ($200). I believe the motor is stock. CV carb w an S&S air cleaner. I have shorty dual drag pipes that came on the bike. Will I notice any difference in performance on a stock motor?

With the motor being stock and you have an S&S. What i would be checking is if your rear pipe is shorter than the front. If you ever decide to have performance work done on your motor, It's a lot easier to tune a bike that has the same length pipes. Thunderheader is a good set up and the two pipes go into one collector

I really like it. I have seen 2 versions. One is for floorboards I think and the rear pipe goes straight down. On the other one the rear pipe swings forward and both pipes wrap around the ignition cone like Havoc's.

I sold mine for $350 (1/2 price), so $200 is a very good price.
I like low-end torque, which it won't have after a few months old. They don't have much back pressure and burn-out too fast causing them to be too loud IMHO!
However, I got mine to work with a glass pack/baffle cut out of a hot rod glass-pack muffler, fit perfect and then it had torque and sounded better.
I sold it because I wanted true duals for that old "separate pulse" sound I missed. I know 2 into 1 is better for performance...hence X pipe, but I'm not racing, just like the old sound.
I now have real good low-end torque, love it!
