So I've had some conversations with a couple people, one a Harley mechanic and the other a Indy mechanic. Both had their opinions, both HATED ams oil synthetic for vtwins. The Harley mechanic who works on the EVO even said that about 70-80% of the bikes he has to rebuild were running the ams oil. My brother in law has been running it for the last ten years with no problem
Both mechanics have good points, the Harley says the slicker synthetic oils are too slippery for the roller bearings causing the rollers to skid along the surface instead of rolling like they are designed. Plus he said the oil on the synthetic runs off. He recommended Harley 20w50 oil, the other guy recommends belray oil.
What are your guys experience and thoughts.

As long as you change your oil at recommended intervals you can use whatever you please.
Since my Harley mechanic (local mom and pop place... I hate stealers) runs a special every spring I just change it out once a year. I don't care if I ride 5000 miles or 500 for the year. You also have your choice geniune Harley oil or Amsoil. I use Amsoil.
