Should I have a Dyno tune done?

I'm curious as to whether this is really beneficial. I need an accurate tune on my carb'd Dyna. I'm not interested so much in making sure I get every bit of power out of my ride. I'm not concerned about the stats.&nbsp\\; I just want it to run correctly.

It's stock except for the a/c and slip-ons. It is running rich, and the guy tuning it hasn't done it right (IMO) because of the 30mpg I get and carbon build-up.

I have to get it tuned, one way or the other, by somene who knows/cares about what he's doing...&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;

Dyno tuning will make it no better mileage wise. They only know how to tune for maximum performance.
&nbsp\\;
You should be in the jet range of 45 - 48 low and 165 - 175 main jet. Assuming the timing is good, only other things that will make it sloppy rich are a high float level, bad enhicher valve/cable or horribly maladjusted idle mixture screw.

here are 3 link that will clue you in how to get it right.

The second attemt,first one timed out.No, you do not need a dyno tune,just someone who knows the basics.Reading the plugs and feeling the motor on a test ride.Good Luck

Sounds like a Dyno jet job, way too rich. You need a 45 slow jet, 160 main, 65N 88 Sportster 1200 needle, undrilled slide, stock spring, idle screw around 1 turn out and its ready to roll. Should run good and get around 45 mpg
