Good Luck, I hope that it goes well, and maybe we'll cross path's when I am out visiting a friend in Fort Collins next month.
Be good to see a MoCo product, most of the western crew that I associate with out there ride Old English and German iron, as I do when there. And they are pretty cool. Love old iron.
But they like to Razz me about loud pipes saving lives, and I in turn like to say "What happened to all the studs and conchos on this bike? And why are there sticks to put my feet on, where are the floor-boards? "
We need to bring them back to our fold. They're good people, just misguided.

Yes that's right I am in Erie. Thanks for the quick replies. I have a manual but it's not the best. On tools I don't really have any Harley specialty tools if that's what you mean. My tool set is pretty basic, so I might have to get a couple of things I suppose. We'll see.
I'm not sure why you say your manual isn't the best but I'm assuming it isn't OEM.
If all you are doing is a top end rebuild you don't need anything special.
You may have to modify an allen wrench to got to the top rocker cover bolts on the rear jug.

Get an OEM manual. It is the best tool you can have for your bike.

Mine had to order the shop manual for me... remember, you don't want the instruction manual, just the shop manual.

I looked at it once and gave up on it.
If you can't get a service manual from your local dealer send me a PM.

Here it is now minus the tank, carb, manifold, and motor mount thing with the horn attached.

Here is where I stopped for the night. I removed the rocker box cover on the front cylinder. It looks really clean in there surprisingly. It wasn't too bad getting this far but the nuts and bolts where really stuck so I just used a squirt of PB Blaster on most everything. Stuff is even better than Sea Foam

After looking at this picture it appears I am missing a bolt ??!!! I didn't take it out should there be one there where that hole is with the threads?

I'm pretty sure you took it out. It's the boss for one of the top cover bolts .. Looking good so far, actually not a difficult job, just takes some time..
