Default V&H Pro-pipe slowed my bike down

Hey guys i have a 99 fatboy EV27 cam,Dynojet kit on my CV carb,Screamin Eagle air filter, had the V&H hi-lo exhaust on my bike without baffles and decided i liked the muffled bass tone from my friends pro pipe so i went and bought one, installed it but it seems like it slowed the bike down significantly, any suggestions appreciated

You need to jet it for the exhaust. Give the engine what it wants.

What instructions? If using Dynojet recommendation, it WILL be too rich. What is your current jetting and needle setting?

You won’t find many (if any) fans of the Dynojet kits. You’d be better off going back to stock emulsion tube, jets and needle and tuning from there. I’d guess you’ll end up with 180 main, 45 slow and stock needle shimmed up with 2 washers.

Different exhaust requires different tune. Especially going from no baffles to a proper exhaust.

I would be more likely to believe you have a fouled spark plug or something. Just because it smells rich doesn't mean the mixture is too rich for combustion, it simply means there is unburned fuel in the exhaust. Check to make sure you have good spark plugs before changing jets. After that, remember that fat might be happy, but lean is mean.
