Tappet Lifters: Feuling HP+ or H-D ?
#31
I did talk to Bob Woods once. Easy to talk with. He put me onto the guy who did my stock HD heads. Because that guy lived close to me. He was interested in my bike and ridding habbits and very helpful.
I probably will again about these lifters.
Did talk to Bob Woods just now.
These are not like Schubeck Roller X. Everybody might have known that but I didn't. The Axle sits in the lifter body like a piston pin and has keepers on each end. The pushrod adjustment is much tighter also, not at all like stock. That alone has been a bother to me. Way more of that than needed.
Have to think about that.

I have used stock and feuling hp+ and never had a problem with stock lifters. when I got about 15000 miles on the feulings they begin to bleed down really bad and clattered for a minute on every start up. Changed back to stock lifters and no clatters for the last 50000 miles. Physically they look very much the same.

The standard Fueling lifter, which I have now, is no different that the HD "B" lifter ( I took apart and measured everything I could) or most of the "regular" lifters available I bet. From one who knows (not me) they are the Eaton lifters for SB Chevys.
The higher end lifters from several suppliers, have, I hope, much more to offer. Much less travel and much less clearances inside. The new Headquater Lifter included I hope. And the Bob Wood lifter.
Clearances are most of the problem I bet. That besides the travel, 0.200 is about 4 times more that needed. Springs for High performance HD have more pressure that the originaly used lifters can handle. And also most HD cams lift higher that most SB Chevy cams do. This last bit I have believed for awhile but really hated to pay-up. Guess I will just have to bite the bullit.
That is about where I am now.

Tappet Lifters: Feuling HP+ or H-D
I first used Feuling HP+ lifters on my 2008 Street Glide w/103 motor.
The Lifters, Cam Plate/Oil Pump & Push rods along with the S.E. 255 cam produced 100.1HP & 108 ft/lbs at rear wheel. The motor now has over 45,000 miles on it and still runs strong.
I am installing the HP+ Lifters in my 2014 Tri-Glide 103 along with 255 cam & TP Roller rockers
