Question Keihin carbretor

Hey Guys ( Still a Newbie )

I have a '85 Electra Glide Classic Evo.

After all this time I'm ashamed to say that I don't know what carburetor I have on my bike Dumbie !

I wrote a guy and he told me I DON'T HAVE A KEIHIN CARB. on my bike, they didn't come out YET.

Can any you guys tell me just what carb I have on my
'85 Classic ?

Thanks Guys

P.S. If you say I do have the KEIHIN CARB.I want to rejet it; but that's another posting.

You have a Keihin carb but its the early "butterfly" style. This was used before the CV style carbs used on newer models.

Street Racer is correct. The CV version of those came much later.

I'd look around for a 40mm CV Keihin if your bike is relatively stock. My 1990 FXR had one.
Very good carb. Should be able to find one cheap and have it rebuilt and modified with a kit. Not hard you could do it yourself.

Keihin built your old butterfly carb and then also built the later CV carbs. I would definately try and upgrade it to the newer CV carb. I would imagine HD may have one that would retrofit directly since they are rubber mounted to the manifold.

Hi Racer1

Would a SandS Carb be a better choice over the betterfly one that I have now ?

Thanks

My opinion is the Keihin CV 40mm carb will give you the smoothest, most consistent performance upgrade. Any CV carb is better than a butterfly style carb.
