Noise that comes and goes.

I got a noise the comes and goes. After the bike warms up, it shows up after running the bike for an 30 minutes at highway speeds. As the RPM drop below 25,000, I get what sounds like a tap that starts off with a tap the skips and then goes constant. It changes with engine speed. If I give the gas it goes away and as the RPM drops it comes back. If I stop for about 10 minutes, it goes away for a while.

It’s a 06 Ulta and with all the stuff on it I can’t figure out where the noise is coming from. The primary has the auto tension spring. Other than that the bike is stock with 43,000 on it.

Thoughts??

Its probably the lifters trying to adjust themselves. Stock lifters and their copies don't get the job done really, I think.

If you don't want to hear this noise, get Woods lifters. They really work.
