Default Rear and Front Cylinder Temps.

I'm not a Harley mechanical genius. I am a very curious wolf. Does the rear cylinder of a Harley run any hotter than the front cylinder and if so, why doesn't this cause problems with the engine? If not, why doesn't the rear cylinder run hotter since it seems it would be more out of the cooling airstream. Thanks...I need to learn something today, LOL!

Howl,

Wolf

More oil or do you mean fuel? The rear cylinder usually runs richer than the front and can have an offset in timing also.

He may have been referring to the oil jet under the piston.

FROM hd the front runs hotter but when you look at timing tables the rear is off set with less advance. SO maybe I did not give you the answer but I did confuse the question LOL

When checked with a temp gun the rear cylinder at rocker box temp checked with a temop gun it hotter. That is all I can say with out fear of having to dig a hole in the desert " just kidding"
