My harley has been down for approx a year. I finally got it all back together. Replaced stock cam with an Andrews EV27 and a crane hi-4n ignition. Now when I start the bike I cannot get it to run unless the air idle mixture screw is all the way in and the choke doesn't seem to work. The carb is the mikuni 42. The carb manual states to put a bigger pilot jet in and try again but it is the same issue.

Main jet is a 165 and the pilot jet is a 25 but I have tried a 27.5.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this issue?

 

Did you just put the carb on ?

 

No the carb was on before.

 

Your car will be completely gummed up with shellac like substance in every oriface and galley.
I'd completely diassemble and soak in Seafoam for 24 hrs. Replace needle and seat, set float level etc. Mikuni has on line manuals for your 42. Fastrider124a
