I personally do not want to be next to one that blows up. I ask him if he thought that might hurt it. He told me he does it all the time. That they are made to take it..?
Other than on the starting line with both bulbs turned on at the tree do I want to hear an unloaded engine bump the limiter. Makes me want to just punch someone in the mouth for their pure ignorance.
I've seen some badly scattered engines before, but that piston still in one piece tilted in the cylinder is a new one.

even in drag racing,we use 2 steps for leaving the line.set the launch limit at a certain RPM and with it wide open, the RPM`s would only go up to that.

I suggest that Ultima will be interested to see those photos! Turning over a piston like that is unusual to say the least! The engine needs a total rebuild I would guess, after the cause has been identified.

Looks like oil starvation, piston scuffed, got hot, skirt collapsed, stuck in cylinder then turned.
I am i ajayrk's camp; reminds me of engine seizure back in the day when my 250cc Husky cross country/scrambles bike would seize up under WOT but never flipped a piston.

I did see that one time on an oval track motor. The guy was trying to prove to me that you don't have to mind the little mark that indicates "to the front of the motor". I tried to tell him that the pin wasn't in the center of the piston. And yes, they were short skirt pistons, just like harley.
