Cool Pro-Action or Progressive Rear Suspension

Having trouble making the decision to purchase Progressive 444 or the Pro Action rear shocks for a 2014 street glide special. Anyone have experience with either or both brands? Any other brand suggestions under $1000?

Wink

There are quite a few brands looking for our money in that price range these days, some of them available from HDF sponsors. There are a lot of threads on shocks, so if you get yourself a supply of your favourite beverage, you could while away many hours......

I have friends that bought the progressives. (keep in mind) there are a lot of different shocks from this company alone! So, choice is VERY important! Some friends love the progressive shocks they bought, others, not so much. I know this really didn't help much but, perception of the new shocks sometimes is directly related to how much lighter your wallet suddenly weighs! I personally have bought 3 different after market offerings. I have a Streetglide Special. The factory shocks would've been great if not for 2 things. 1) Travel WAY TOO SHORT!!
2) Bad quality. Meaning, A LOT of them won't see 10,000 miles. I know personally at least 7 other owners who's shocks blew the seals out of the same shock! The left side,(the adjustment shock). We are talking about the coil overs here, not the air shocks. bla bla bla. So my newest ones are from ProAction. 1" More travel than stock, fully adjustable, rebuild-able. I have about 6000 miles on them. So far "I" think they are the best ones I've had. About middle of the road price.
If you want to try them out, I recommend attending one of the bike rally's. They are usually there. They will install them for you to try out. If you don't like them, they will take'm back off. No charge. That's how I came to getting them.

I had progressive 444's on my 2006 RK and I'd say they didn't measure up to the manufacturers description.
My 2016 RK with stock air shocks rides better than the 2006 w 444's did.

sbeamer, thank you for your time explaining your experiences and suggestions!! You've just reinforced my final decision to go with the pro-action product, I was teetering on the fence leaning heavily toward them and your wisdom was just enough to push me in that direction, thank you much!! Ordered them today!
