But Harleys haven't.

(For those Dowton Abbey fans ... ask the wife if you don't follow this) ... Is one inferring one is showing one's age, old chap? Backwards front tyres might just be the next big thing then? Which direction would you put on a modern rear tyre if it was on front?

Yah, tyre and tire ... it's the way we tell them apart. If it was good enough for the Phoenicians it is good enough for me.

Did you know that tire has the same Middle English (C15) etymological root as attire, meaning the iron rim of a wooden wheel (tir)?

It's bad word magic to use tire-tired of your bike ... it should be tyre-tyred to differentiate. There is some logic to the old Mother language.

Is your bike tired or tyred?

When did the 160 go in and how, Graham? I'm having upgrade envy. Pictures please.

With some difficulty! Using a Deuce wheel and a bit of black magic. See my thread here. Not bang up to date, as I am still fine tuning and not yet happy with it. Also not something I recommend, as a Deuce wheel looks good, but comes with too much baggage. There are other 4.5" x 17" Harley wheels available that would be more suitable, but other than buying a new one at full price I have yet to find one.

The 'Slotted 6-Spoke' 17 in. Rear - 43942-07 ? Coming in around $359?

You should put up a 'tips jar' for those of us you've helped to inspired ... although in my case, I think you owe me for what I've spent. ;-)

That, also a ten spoke which actually has five pairs of Vee spokes (I don't currently have a part number) and the Typhoon with curved spokes. They are all around $400 new. None of these suffer the hollow central section of a Deuce wheel.

HB, I think you'll find that my charges for all this trail blazing are just about affordable!!!!

Ten spoke Revolver wheel? See installation guide and I think part numbers, here.

Perhaps Chrome Revolver for FXDWG 17"x 4.5" 41481-05?

Not wishing to blow the market for you now but ... comme ci?

Wink

No, I haven't come across that one! So that's another candidate to add to the list. I am no fan of chrome myself, so only a plain version would do for me, if there is one. The chrome one is 980 quid at Jersey HD!

The factory website is down at present, so I can't do much to find pics, however the wheel I referred to, with five pairs of spokes in a Vee, are Dyna wheels, available in 17", silver or black, respectively #41018-06 and #40987-06.

Here ya go!

This is the first one I've seen for sale secondhand: US Ebay #171195187434.

Yup, it seems it only comes in chrome and I concur.

They may be others of that generation ... see download leaflet, here.

You are a tease! I see that the V-spoked one I mentioned is a Switchblade. Chrome wheel prices are just spookey......

Are you still running a MT front? Who makes an MU front and how do they handle?

I wouldn't be easily convinced one needs or can benefit from a fatter front tyre.
