Road King rear wheel removal

RE: Road King rear wheel removal
Contrary to an earlier post, there ARE holes on the swingarm of a Road King for alignment/measurement purposes, so I can only assume all of the FL's are this way. Well, at least mine has the holes.
Thanks again, everyone, for their assistance. I'm gonna tackle tackle the job pretty soon as I need to replace the rear tire.

Carl,
Don't assume that ALL FL's have the holes. I owned a 1995 Roadking for 10 years that did not have them, and I have changed tires several times on a 1996 EG Standard that does not have them. My current 2005 EG Classic does not have them.
This is a feature that has obiviously been added to some of the later models. When I made the post that I made, I was using information directly from the 1995 and the 1996 Shop Manuals.
Good luck in your tire replacement.
Regards,
Bill

Carl,
And here is a pic of a 1996 FL that obiviously doesn't have the alignment holes. I also have a picture of the instructions for alignment out of the 1995-1996 Harley Davidson service manual if anyone needs it for reference. I won't take up space with it here unless someone wants it.
I, also, am glad that I'm not losing my mind. I'm wondering if the change didn't take place with the start of the TC engine? It could however, have been 1997, as my wife's Dyna Lowrider had them.
Regards,
Bill

Well, as any of us knows from any significant amount of time working on cars or bikes: you can never generalize. Manufacturers and shop manuals may say one thing, but the final product may have been put together 3 or 4 ways with the same part coming from different vendors.
We can generally assume thing will be the way we think they will be, but not always. If it works out in your favor, cosider yourself lucky.

you won't have to remove a muffler or drop the swingarm at the shocks. remove the two bolts that hold the muffler to the floater bar on the side where the hexhead end of the axle is located. as you are pushing the axle out push down on the muffler and the axle will come out.
