Default Valve train noise

Hey all,

I just finished a Fulemoto 98" bigbore with level B heads, Woods 555 cams, S&S timesaver pushrods and Woods alpha lifters.

I have been struggling with valve train noise/ticking. Originally, I set the pushrods at 4 turns like the package lists and had very noticeable ticking. So I added 2 flats which took away pretty much all of the ticking.

That said, I still have more valve train noise than anticipated. Anyone installed this kit and did you find the top end to be rather noisy??

I have emailed a video to Fuelmoto but I know they are closed for the weekend, just thought some of you may have some insight.

Thanks in advance.

Installed them at the same time, forgot to add that.

January time frame, i had a 107 kit with Woods Alpha lifters, FM push rods, level B heads, put in my 2009 electraglide and i too have the ticking / valve train noise. After contacting FM they recommended 5 full turns on the push rods vice 4. It helped, but didn't get rid of the noise. I thought maybe it was just my bike. Thought the noise maybe coming from the rocker boxes. We put in rocker lockers. No change. If you figure it out keep us posted.

FYI, if you do see that the pushrods are making contact with the tubes as Dixifrog suggests, you can usually fix that by drilling the upper end of the tube to 0.625" and around 1.500" to 1.750" deep.

Did you ever find the source of the noise?

Twincam ticking can be tamed with the Axtel bypass valve. Aerated oil is part of the problem. JMTCW
