Default Surprise - MPG

Thought I'd post some general info on gas milage.
After installing 2-1-2 header W/jackpot dyno tuned slip ons, fuel moto air cleaner w/filter, PCV with base map, and Wood's .555 cams. Installed on a 10' ultra 103".
I filled up at 7-11 with their premium grade fuel.(It wasn't a planned fuel stop.) Riding 184 miles two up including some freeway, country and city driving. I'll call it average riding, normal take off with some roll on acceration, several 3/4 throttle roll ons up to about 80 MPH. speeds were between 60 - 70 most of the time. When I refueled and checked milage I was surprised and happy to see 49.77 MPG. I don't think it will be to difficult to squeeze 50 or better out of it.

That's spectacular mileage. I've got the same Fuelmoto setup minus the 555 cams. I'm very happy with the way the bike runs but after several 150-200 mile rides similar to yours 37 mpg is about all I can get. That's riding conservatively trying to get better numbers. I will say that before the upgrade the bike never would break the 40 mpg barrier under the same conditions. I'd like to pull the trigger on the 555 cam set but I do a lot of highway touring and don't want to lose any more range. So I guess my question is if I add the 555 cams to my setup what's going to happen to my highway mileage?

I don't know how the .555 cam affects milage. With the total upgrade I expected to get a little less fuel milage but it has not turned out that way.
I think the open air cleaner and better flowing exhaust contribute the most, but I'm guessing on that.
The best I got in stock configuration was 47-48 and more often 44-45MPG one time I checked it and it was down around 42, always two up and normal/or average riding technique.
I'm pretty sure the map for the PCV has a part in it also but over all I was surprised and very glad to be getting that kind of range with the performance the bike now has.

I am going to be calling Jamie soon, I am getting rid of my true duals and love the subtle sound of the Jackpots. I would love to be able to get 45MPG...keeping my fingers crossed.
