Nothing personal but when a friend of mine and I went to Sturgis, we were staying right around 80-85 mph, just a nice steady pace. I would lean back on my bags and there wasn't any trouble for me handling my bike at that speed. Like I said, they aren't for everybody but for me they are just fine at highway speeds.

I don't get that observation at all. Or I just don't get how you judge someone else's comfort. My hands don't "fly" and I can handle a bike with apes way better than stock at any speed. Some of us are much more comfortable with apes.

Another "never had them, but" post, which is total bs.

ok maybe a better explanation is that any bumps or wobble get amplified. The taller the apes the more the amplification. Thats what it appears to me................or.....................possibly all the bikes I see on the freeways that have apes are just poorly built and thats where the wobble comes from

Also to add, I like apes, I think most bikes with them look bad ***.

16's pull backed are totally comfortable for 10 hours plus on my heritage and on the 09 road king classic I use to own (road king had 12 inch apes pulled back). The road king classic I owed had a modified engine that had over 100 horse power and torque at the rear. I was could easily cruise for hours @ 85 mph in 4th gear on the interstate. Beach bars are super uncomfortable for me. My hands go numb after a couple hours.

So, let me see if I'm tracking correctly here... I read this as:

You guys don't want to do what the minority does, so you stay with what the majority does, since the minority is too common?

SoCal, since your bike is so unique in other ways, this threw me for a loop.

This I do get. I did like the stock bars on the Slim, but I was too forward and down with them. My riding position was just not good, and my shoulders and back prefer apes.

I went with apes for comfort. I went with the particular apes I did, because I like the look.

At highway speeds, it's not an issue, even with no windshield. It's still my beat up back that gives in first.

I put mini apes on my FXST and I absolutely love them. Almost every aspect of riding was improved over the drag bars I had on there before. The drag bars did decently better at parking lot speed turns and a little better through twisties, but the mini apes do better everywhere else

I don't understand why people continually respond to threads about things they have NO FRIGGIN idea what they are talking about. If you have no experience in a subject, Your "opinion" ain't worth ****.
