Did he like the Harley or did he lust after the Harley?

For you young 'uns here's a point of reference....

I'd munch on a few Peanuts with him. The rest I had to edit out.

Any-body that gets to be 90 and is still in charge of their faculties has something going on. Ya'll know that.

Not only that but he was here in my state a decade or so ago helping to build houses for the Lakota Sioux on Pine Ridge Reservation.

Think what you want of him, but I can't think of any other presidents who would have or has done that?
Can any of you?

Enough of the bad mouthin' already.

Well, President Jimmy Carter was doing a book signing. So, we decided to purchase a couple of his books and get his signature. He turns 90 on October 1st so we figured this may be our only chance to meet him (or meet any President for that matter).

So, he's signing his books inside his brother's (Billy) old gas station. As you walk in you hand your open books to an assistant who sets the books in front of the President to sign. No handshakes, no standing around having a conversation. It's quick since there are a lot of folks in line.

Well, the lady in front of me is all excited and wishes the President a happy birthday. He doesn't respond. I walk up wearing my Loess Hills (Pacific Junction, Iowa) Harley t-shirt. The President looks up, looks at my shirt, looks at me, and says, "You ride a Harley?" I said, "yes sir!" He smiled, signed my book, and the wife was able to snap a pic.

Well, I thought it was kind of neat!
he really wanted to say..."You ride one of them awful fossil fuel burning climate changing things"

^^^^True that!! I was at a swap meet Saturday. Guy had two unopened six packs of Billy beer. Wanted $5 apiece for them. No one was interested.
