Why can't people just say, "Nice bike."

Why can't people just say, "Nice bike."
Why is it, when folks find out you have a Harley, do they feel it necessary to speculate as to your financial situation (Man, must make goooood money). Or, why do they feel the need to launch into the, "Those bikes are so overpriced...." How about the fake concern over whether or not you wear a helmet.
Maybe it's just me, but I am just irritated by the reaction from some people as it relates to Harleys. I work two jobs, and I make payments on both bikes. I don't make a lot of money, but I sacrifice having a bigger house etc... to make it work.
I supposemaybe couldjust beme. I do have an, "I don't give a **** atitude" about it most of the time, but there times when it just rubs me the wrong way.

How about this: "If you don't mind me asking, how much does something like that set you back"?
God I hate that!!!

I have taught my kids from the day they could talk to NEVER ask someone how much they earn, or how much they paid for something. I can hardly think of something more insulting to ask someone. If it happens to be in regard to a Harley, that will only spark the debate about whether or not they are overpriced. I always answer that one with, "Not as much as you might think."

The more things that you have, the more people will become jealous.
You earned it, and don't apologize for it.
Someone wants to know what I have in my bike, I tell them. That usually shuts them up in a hurry.

I just tell them my yacht is on the lake near by. I don't care what other people think. My bike is my life. Carefree and don't give a crap.
