Default What adhesive

I am trying to find out what kind of adhesive I would use that does not stick to the paint. When I changed the inner fairing on my SG, the black weather stripping that is "glued" to the inner fairing is held on with an adhesive that does not stick to the paint. What little bit is left behind, you simply run with your finger it ***** up, comes off without any chemicals or cleaning and is clear. Anybody have any idea what kind of adhesive this is. I need to fix the weather stripping since it does not stay in place at the bottle of the fairing without the adhesive.

If there's an Auto Body supply store near you, they might have weather strip adhesive.

And what I mean by stick is when the piece I removed, the adhesive wont bond to the paint and need to be scrapped off, but when its applied, it will stick to the paint and hold the piece in place.

You can find weather stripping with those qualities.
Mineral spirits from Benny's and such removes adhesives without harming paint.
