On this rainy nasty day here in South Carolina with little to do I got to wondering, are there any 100,000 mile plus Harleys out there that HAVEN'T had any internal engine work done on them?
If the bike (twin cam or evo) is taken care of properly 100k should be the norm at the cost to buy a new one being $8k & up! Op this was a good question. Looking forward to seeing the answer and hoping to see a lot of 100k owners.
In my case twin cam, 2013 Ultra Classic with currently 21,500 miles. The reason I ask, I almost hate to say, is that my other bike is a Honda VTX1800 and there are many guys on that forum that have exceeded the 100,000 mile mark and I would very much like to think I can have the same result with my UC. My VTX currently has 65,000 miles on it and other than changing the water pump at 60,000 miles I have never had any problems whatsoever with it. Like my Harley, it is bone stock..... I take that back, I did have the stage 1 done on my Ultra but that is minimal work.
Have a 07 Sporty 1200 Custom that just hit 100,000 on a trip to Bikes, Blues and BQ's in Arkansas. Have changed a couple of rocker box cover gaskets but no other work to the engine. I run Lucas full synthetic and change it every 5,000. Bike is still running strong and I have no plans to get retire it.
