RE: Why did YOU buy a Harley?
Back around 1973 or so I saw Robert Blake in a movie called "Electra Glide in Blue" and have wanted an EG ever since.
Only took me 34 years, but i got it...

I am adding nothing new here. I can't believe how many stories here are the same as mine: rode metrics before marraige/kids, waited til they grew up, wife wouldn't let me have a girlfriend on the side, got a Harley to compensate (or maybe to **** the wife off a bit). Always wanted a Harley even though I typically railed against the costume that seems to go with the territory. Was off riding solo the other day in the country - bike was thumping just perfectly and I knew it and loved it - a perfect moment with my bike. Funny, never happened with my metric, always seemed like I was sitting on a high powered sewing machine, very quick agile sewing machine however, now that I'm older (much) I appreciate the HD rhythm and wouldn't trade it for anything. Love to smell the roses while that big f-ing motor is doing its thing.

It was the first motorcycle I ever saw and the sound was what drew me to them. There is nothing that sounds sweeter than a Harley under load.Oh, other than a 2 cylinder John Deere tractor.
