I've had an AK88 for a couple years now and I love it. I would recommend

 

....unless someone actually wants to protect their head.

 

Every accident is different but here is my Akoury accident story: late 2015 a car pulled out in front of me. I never even hit the breaks or tried to swerve it happened that fast. The impact caused me 7 broken ribs, ruptured spleen and kidney and 9 days in ICU due to internal bleeding. The Akoury helmet was split above my left ear due to impact but I had zero head injuries.

Post accident we ordered Arai full face helmets, but the Akoury replacement still gets the majority of use unless it's cold out.

 

Glad you survived!! My brother suffered the same injuries in a similar accident. He was wearing my carbon fiber half helmet. Saved his life. A concussion but nothing more serious for head injuries.
