hey, at least you havent pulled up in the parking lot at work and got off the bike after forgetting to put the kick stand down! [sm=badidea.gif]Or worse yet, left the parking lot with the kickstand down and first left turn you took nearly threw yourself off the bike! But i dont know anyone that would be that stupid. At least it was the plug and wire you forgot and not the oil [:@]. That could have been pretty bad.

Or parked in front of a biker hangout with 100+ people watching you get off your bike and forgetting to put down the kickstand. Not that I know anyone that's done such a stupid thing.

What is it with plug problems this season? My wife's '03 Vulcan died right at the end of last season. Running rough, and then only if the petcock was set on prime. Winter kind of surprised us, so I just did a basic winterization, and figured I'd worry about it in the spring. I'd bought the bike used late last summer, but it only had a little over 5800 kms on it when I picked it up for the wife. She only put about 300 kms on it, before the season ended last year. Anyway, this spring (or at least at the first sign of it...) I pulled it out, checked the petcock, replaced the fuel, checked the vacuum lines, checked for spark, etc. I finally figured the carbs must be gummed up. Being a halfazzed backyard mechanic at best, I brought her into my local (and trustworthy) wrencher. $128 later the spark plugs had been replaced!! ($128 incl. an oil chg as well...) I checked for spark, but assumed with just 6100 kms on it the plugs had to be OK. (And we all know what assume does...) Talk about feeling like a maroon!! At least your mistake didn't lighten the wallet. Mind you it was money well spent. A fellow at work has a Softail Std, and he was having firing probs this spring too. Had checked everything, figured his carb was shot. I told him what had happened to me, and a couple of days later I asked him, and he said, "Yup, the plugs were fouled. She's running fine now. Thanks." I told him he owed me $64!!

Kinda funny - now that it's over and no damage was done.

Mike NY,
Nice Deluxe. I'm in Southern Westchester. Let's get a ride going.
