If you need that **** to motivate you, you are the one that needs to consider why you ride at all.

Ok, got it. Earning points motivate you to ride to places you never go to so you can receive meaningless awards from Harley.
I am thinking the award winner in this deal is Harley who benefits from the sales of tires, brakes and service department profits by motivating you to ride more.

Having a record of where you ride could be beneficial to an estranged spouse and their attorney some day.

I wouldn't worry too much about the HOG thing. HOG is not a motorcycle enthusiast's club, IMO (Harley owners are a pretty diverse group and socializing is a little more complicated than that), but it is close enough that it will give a new rider an idea about what kinds of riders you will run into; and maybe a little incite into the kind of rider you are or will develop into.
So... have fun, relax, and enjoy the bike. It just ain't that complicated.

Those X-ray glasses do not work BTW.

Are you people serious??? Harley benefits from my desire to ride more? This just gives me some direction, to help me get out and go see places new to me. If you don't get that, then maybe you should consider why you ride at all. This is a lot of fun. I want to ride, of course, but why not enjoy some comradery at the same time?
The award winner isn't Harley. I'd have to get brakes, services, etc. regardless. I'm the winner since I get to enjoy my time on the road. How or why I get there shouldn't be relevant. Thanks for commenting and sharing.
Anyway, to each their own.

Always enjoy hearing what makes the other rider twist the throttle. Ride safe.
