Today was a good day!
A great friend of mine, Josh, got his first Harley today, and I am super excited! Josh was actually my son's best friend...my son passed away 4 years ago. Josh is like son #2 to me.
I got into riding last year, in part because I needed something new to distract me from grief. At the time, Josh had a little Suzuki. He said then that he was ready to get a nicer bike, and he liked cruisers. Well, fast forward to this year. He sold his Suzuki last weekend, and we've been emailing each other links to bikes all week.
Today he took a look at a gorgeous 2008 Roadster 1200R. It was 15 minutes from his house, for sale by the original owner. As soon as Josh saw it his heart started pounding. A flurry of texts between us ensued, lol. Next thing I know, he's sending me pics of it in his driveway. He's now the proud owner of his first Harley.
We're getting together next week, I'm going to do some fluid changes and adjustment checks, and then we're going for a nice leisurely ride together. This is something we are both passionate about, and I'm really looking forward to many rides together.
One last thing is that I was really close friends with Josh's dad, who passed away 10 years ago. I've tried to be a father to him ever since, and he has been an amazing "son" right back. This history just makes this even more special to be able to ride with him now.
Here's a pic of his new beauty:
