Default Stage 1 disappointment

Recently changed pipes and had a stage 1 download done on my 2013 electra glide classic. Every since it has pinged when under load going up hills! Took it back in today to get it reflashed and it is doing the same thing. What is the easiest and most cost effective way of fixing this? Already have spent more than i wanted to. Thanks any and all input.

Please don't shoot the messenger, but are you running premium gas?

Stop bringing it to the dealer for performance "upgrades". They are bound to only modify your bike and exhaust as long as it meets emission guidelines, so it won't run much if any better then it did before you took it there. Look for aftermarket stuff if you want to feel a difference.,,,

The consensus here is the dealer download is a waste of money. My bike was set up with pipes, a/c and a stage 1 download when I bought it. Pinged all the time and popped badly on decel. A Thundermax fixed that problem.

Running premium gas. Even go out of my way to get ethanol free. Ran some seafoam through 4 tanks of gas. Definitely the tune.

Buy a tuner. I recomend the Power Vision from Fuel Moto. Free tunes and advice for life. Member discount too.

Seem like so far everyone is on the same page - Dealer "CAN Tuning" is a waste of money - get a Power Vision tuner....

Kinda hate to tell you this, now that it's done. If you did just the pipes and not the intake, you probably didn't need to do the download or tune at all. These newer bikes can handle an upgrade to either the intake or the pipes without anything being uploaded to the bike.

What GotNSpikes said is true....for just a pipe change...not much has to be done. Even a pipe 'n intake change. The new computerized bikes roll with the flow.

Now..as others said, the stealership..I mean..the dealership...they ain't the best at tuning. They cater to the weekend warrior crowd that likes to blip the throttle and look around to see who is looking at them. It's all about that generic vance 'n hines pipe sale....just like everyone else!

Find an Indy (indepenedent) shop...one that does good tuning, they'll know how to fix that. Or..if you don't want to spend much more (I know..nobody does)...learn how to connect your laptop to your new computer module in the seat and tune it up. Lotta reading!
