How Many of You Practice Quick Maneuvers, Short Stops, Exit Strategies, Etc.?
#71
I rode on a motorcycle drill team for quite a few years. We not only practiced intricate maneuvers to wow the crowds we performed for, but we had to practice slow speed drills all the time. When I first started with the drill team, I thought I had a good feel for handling my bike (Ultra Limited). After all the time practicing and doing those drills, I can say with all confidence that I can handle my bike better than probably 95-99% of any other rider out there! With the exception, of course, for motorcops.
While you may not need to use those slow speed maneuvers on the roads, (although, how many of you have dropped your bike while doing a U-turn or constantly ride with your feet dragging the ground when going slow) the confidence you gain in knowing how well you can handle your bike is immeasurable! Practice is what gave me my confidence and I continue to practice it as often as I possibly can.
