I'd use that as my benchmark for whether the MC could get it right the first time instead of the TC experience.

Although some of the problems with the TC shouldn't have happened, they knew at the time they were trying to modernize old technology instead of developing something new.

I didn't ask the question to be a wise guy. I truly don't know the answer.
The V-Rod motor is truly a great motor and its Harleys fault for not doing anything with it ! All they really had to do was make it in a 1500cc size and put in some type of touring frame. And then call it the new modernized FXR-3 or the new RoadMaster. And it's been 10 yrs too . Let's Go Harley and get off your asses !

every new design harley has come up with has had major problems. cam bolt , cam bearings, tensioner shoes in the first twinkies. along with the first year 6 speeds, primary chain tensioners, compensators ( still havn't got that one figured out ) crappy wheel bearings. evo's were the same way, bad base gaskets and inner cam bearings, weak and breaking engine cases. no way i would buy the first two years of anything that harley's putting out there, unless they came way down on their prices.

Bought my EVO a couple years after the TC came out, and bought my TC a couple weeks ago. So, apparently I wait 16 years or so after a new motor comes out.

STFU about the Engine vs Motor drivel. It's all moot and nobody but one or two of you give a rat's **** crevice. I will call them the opposite of what you want me to just to **** you off anyway. Just get over yourselves.

I also don't buy all the wild speculations that are flying around.

That being said, if I were to buy a new bike with a clean-sheet internal combustion machine I'd probably wait until the third model year.

If they put that motor in a touring frame I'd buy it in a minute.. The one V-Rod that I've ridden was an absolute rip! I think something like a Street V Glide would be amazing.

none that I've heard of. the only real problem I've heard is that the 2015s had terrible brakes.

.

The 99-02 TC88 was the only TC that got it right. Good crank and bearings. The rest.... not so much.

You got that right!

The TC88 was a solid motor through and through from '99 to '02....If you gave me a '03 and later bike with a TC motor, I'd sell it and buy a '99 to '03.
The only thing wrong with the early TC motors was the tensioners and that's a minor, cheap fix and completely curable with a set of gear drive cams.

Any motor built after '03 was cheaped down every year until they turned it into the junk that they are selling today.
