Default Rear fender seat nut

I have a 94, Softail Custom with a 98 Fatboy rear fender. The seat nut is sloppy in the hole and I'm concerned will chip the paint. How can I prevent the inevitable?

Think JB weld would work, to secure the nut back into the hole?

Use blue masking tape on the paint side to stop the JB weld - then fill in around the nut on the under (wheel) side

Mean taking off the rear wheel and likely the fender in order to turn it upside down

But would not damage the paint

Just a thought

Maybe I'm not explaining or I don't understand you guys. But the pop-out nut that's keyed so it doesn't spin and has the plastic clip on the top side, it moves around in the fender hole. Seams like there should be a bushing.
this one.

Top or bottom?
But it won't stop the sloppy fit and metal to metal rubbing.
Need a rubber/plastic washer with a flange.

I took a piece of light fishing line and slipped it in the groove between the nut and the clip and tied it tight. I can't draw well but from the pic you get the concept. Mine has been snug for almost a year now. G'luck.
