Welcome, and nice little writeup there.
I too come from a world of metrics, albeit mostly dirt bikes with the exception a Kawasaki KZ 1000 from back in the day. But once I made the move, I have to agree, there is nothing quite like owning and riding a H-D.
Ride safe...

Thanks
Yeah, got a bit long. Lot of opinions out there on the internet without any experience behind them so I figured I might as well do it justice for anyone searching for an answer in the future.
I would have liked to have kept a second bike but at this time I don't have the room for one properly. Plus the Fz1 was setup for comfort and not speed, worked well for my only bike, but if I where to have two I would get an R1 or something.
So it makes me wonder, how many people that had Harleys went to a sports bike? Doesn't seem to be the same aggression about sportsbikes from Harley riders as it is the other way around. Or maybe it's just a couple people I've met. Several people here coming from sports bikes, but I haven't come across many people in my past with sports bikes that had Harleys.
And with all that being said, I still like sports bikes. Still love the look of them and the sound of them when you have a bunch on the track (just like the sound of a bunch of Harleys riding together). But if I could only have one bike, it be the FXDLS.
Fast is fun, but the payment is only half the experience of being on the road.

Welcome aboard from a fellow former Sportbike rider. I actually went from Sportbikes to a Harley Fat Boy in 2002, then went back to a sportbike (Suzuki TL1000R) for a couple of years before coming back to Harley's for good. I'm actually thinking about picking up a Honda RC-51 to keep on the side but not sure when/if I will be able to afford it.

Cool write up. Enjoy the bike.
I had a 2015 R1 (sportbike #3) and loved that bike more than anything I'd ever had. After 10 years on sportbikes, this bike was so new and technologically advanced that it felt like owning a Ferrari. After the first 3k miles, I found myself not really enjoying it. The bike just wasn't happy on the street unless I was riding like an idiot, and I couldn't afford to do that anymore. I love track riding, but I've always preferred street riding and taking trips. I'm on a road glide special now and couldn't be happier. Definitely took some getting use to, and I felt way out of place for the first few months. I miss the power but that's about it.

All that really matters is your happy with your ride. I suppose I am fourtunate in the fact none of my friends never cared what I rode and I didnt care what they rode and I haven't met any young guys my age that care either. I've owned and ridden Italian bikes, American bikes, and Japanese bikes and they all were great. Welcome to the HDForum party and congrats on your sweet new ride.
