I rarely, if ever, lock up my helmet. Unless it's a really windy day, I leave it right side up on my seat, info, right side up on the ground partially under the bike. When I first started riding, I once left it upside down next to the bike while out to dinner. Rain squaw came through and filled it with rain, NOTHING gets the smell out after that!

Last week, I got my bike inspected at the Yamaha shop. The guy who handled my paperwork was pissed and telling another guy that he was at a local BBQ joint (Mac's Speed Shop), had his shoei helmet on his handlebars. After eating some ribs, he came outside and his helmet was gone. And to make matters worse, he lived on the other side of town.

N.C. is a mandatory helmet state too, so in his situation, I'm not sure what happens if he would have gotten pulled over for not riding with a helmet.

In 50 years I've never had one go missing. May have something to do with the fact it is a $25 novelty helmet?

I've had 3 helmets stolen from me (or my passenger). Now I either clip my helmet on the mirror stem so it's difficult to remove or I take it with me.

Stealing a helmet to have as your own, reminds me of wearing other people's dirty clothes. I think most helmets are sweaty and nasty, so that's disgusting.

But this has what to do with locking saddlebags???
the sena calvary helmet that the op mentioned has Bluetooth comms built in and is pricey. with locking saddlebags, he can lock up his helmet and feel a little more confident that it will still be there when he gets back.

I guess I have been lucky, the wife and I both have a habit of leaving our Shoe's which are worth $500 and $700 respectively hanging low on the highway pegs and never had one walk away.

It depends where I am. If I am at a place where hood rats are cruising around, it gets locked to the bike (gun locks work well BTW). If I am at an event with other bikers, I don't worry about it. Parking garages in the city the helmet goes with me.

I used to trust everyone. Now I don't trust anyone. It's a new world out there.

Way back when Arizona was a helmet required state, I would lock the D-rings in a frame mounted helmet lock. Someone cut the strap to steal the helmet. Makes no sense to me.
