H-D Flat Track Woes Continue ... Or Does/Should It Matter?

What makes you think they're not all in on it?
The way HD approached the engine for flat track is VASTLY different than the way Polaris/Indian has.
Good Link HERE

Funny that Polaris is using a Swiss made “racing-only” motorcycle that will never be produced and offered to the public. While HD builds a “production-based” racing bike that is based on what they sell. Indian wins races but can't say "hey, go buy a bike like we race", but HD can.
Like I said before Polaris Indian is desperate for any kind of attention they can get.

For what it's worth, the Indian FTR750 can be bought by mere mortals. But it's gonna cost ya 50 large. Here's the link.

The FTR750 is race only. As an aside, I wonder how that $50k price compares to a new H-D XR750 (can ya still buy 'em?) or an XG750R. I've yet to see a price on that one. That would be interesting to know.

Indian
Compression ratio 14:1
Horsepower 109
Maximum rpm 11,400
Weight 106 pounds
Harley
13:1
Approximately 95
11,400
Approximately 145 pounds
Easy to see why the Indian just walks away. But hey, it's walking away from the entire field. The real question is, can anything be done to make the xg compete with the Indian motor?
I know that feeling all too well. You think your bike is fast, then someone who's got a stage one comes up and just walks away from you. Like Scotty, you're giving it all she's
got, but, it simply isn't there. Aside from the Indians, Harley pretty much has been leading the pack out there. But, being ahead of the rest of the guys in 5th place doesn't count for much.
Hmmm. Pretty confident it's fixable. Cannot immediately say what.

I'd love to see Mees, Smith, or Baker ride the Harley XGR750 once. Just to see how they would do on it. I know the Indian is fast, but it's also being ridden by the three fastest riders currently racing. Be interesting to see what the Harley could do with one of those guys in the seat. All three of them can ride the wheels off anything they're on. A lot of Indian's success has to do with the guys twisting the Indian throttles.
