For them, that would of been a great deal at 3k.

I bet people trade in all the time and get way undercut like that.

NO WAY I would let that bike go for 3K!

I had a dealer offer me 13K for a 15 SGS with 35K on it in trade for a 17 SGS that they would " let go" for 26K

Me thinks the new M8 has turned dealers into craigs list crackheads!

I wasn't even lookin to trade up and wont be for years but they are pushy right now. I traded a 07 wideglide with 50K on the sg and got 8k for it, they probably would offer half that now.

Too much used low milage iron out there right now.

Ya thats where i was at. Im just going to keep it, and add either an ultra or road glide in the next year or so. Its a blast to ride. I just figured itd be nice for the ol to have a good backrest, tunes, and a fairing to ride with me but not at that price.

look at a web site called rumble on. all one word.

key in your bikes info, add pics , you can get a cash offer with in a few hours. good for 3 days. you accept, do paperwork, they wire money, they pick up bike.

you buy new bike whereever you want.

easy. they focus on Harleys

That 2001 has the best crank HD ever put into a V Twin and will last forever. My 2000 has about 165,000 miles on it. It's still my daily driver, still uses virtually no oil and I still haven't found a reason to split the cases yet. $5,000 bike from now to forever IMO.

Lately I prefer dealers. My time is also worth money.
Just know what you want and what is worth TO YOU.
You will never walk away from a dealer thinking you just
made the best deal in the world. Not a dealer that will be
in business long.

Dealing with owners is fun and interesting but can take time.

you could put a tourpack and quadzilla fairing on your bike and save yourself $15,000

make them quick connect and you'll have 2 different bikes

I put a used reckless fairing on my king and bought aftermarket bags and tour pack on ebay. The 2008 King rode better than my 2012 Electra Glide Limited and tunes were almost as good as the HD boom stereo in the 2012. The reckless fairing is dead easy and can be put on in a couple of hours tops. Once installed it's easy on/off if you want to go without it. Fantastic sound from Bluetooth capable stereo. You could spend $1500 or so and have what you want with your bike.

Forgot to add, Reckless comes with quick disconnect electrical connector and uses the HD wind screen mounting system.

Dickey's rule about bike buying:

1.Never buy used from a dealer. Buy used private ONLY!
2.Never trade unless you're buying new. What you get "no-vaselined" on in trade, you make up in tax savings.
