OP - go to any home improvement store and pick up some foam pipe insulation and duct tape. Now wrap your engine guard and anything else with the foam wrap and duct tape it in place. Take the tennis ***** out to a parking lot and have a go at it. Practice tight turns etc.
you are going to need to know how to ride slow without dumping the scoot when you start actually riding in traffic.
Good luck.

No, I haven't taken a riding course...but I'm not new to riding either, I don't guess I got my thoughts across very well when I typed them out. Thanks for the words of wisdom and help everyone. Guess I need to just quit worrying about scratching my baby and just buck up and fix it if I do. Lol

your fear is low speed maneuvers. Ever think of high speed drops?

I took the course a long time ago. Then I went out and bought a Sportster. I got used to that bike and could do slow circles in my sleep. What the class showed me was how to ride. But with a smaller bike, I had a hard time using some of the techniques. So when I got the Roadlgide, all of how to ride went out the window. With the Sportster, I could not understand why the rear brake was needed for control. I would just throw it over and or man handle it. The the Roadglide, that does not work for me. so I am getting used to (still) a larger bike. On the Sportster I could use my front brake at slow turns and stops without a problem. Not with the Roadglide.

Just different bikes and styles. It takes time and patience and practice. Dont worry too much or you will not want to ride anymore in fear of dropping it. I am, in a sense, the same way as you are. I worry too still to this day. So reading what other people are saying is helping me as well.

I do have a parking lot close that I might do the cover crash bar and buy some tennis *****.
