I can only recommend what I have experience with and I have experience with a few. When I buy a good jacket, I tend to keep it for a long time unless I outgrow it which happens more frequently as I get older.

I would rank rank my current one up there with the best of them. That being a Harley FXRG. Go to a dealer and take a look. Not super expensive and I think a great value with a lot of features.

I bought an ICON Motorhead jacket off Ebay for $150. Used but was like brand new. After i took all the rice rocket padding out of it (removeable CE armor) its a very well made jacket with alot of pockets and venting if you need it. The quality is better than harley davidson jackets for a 1/3 of the price.

I have a pair of Harley gloves. I like them and they weren't expensive. Yeah they have a small logo on them but it's very hard to see from the sidewalk or a car .

Mainly they're well made. No inside seams and they're vented, padded too. I'll probably buy ANOTHER pair if they ever wear out :P.

I have 2 Harley leather jackets: the Detonator and the #1 Skull. Both are made very well and look great.

I also have two Schott leather jackets: a 626 and the PER22. Both are EXTREMELY well made, and the PER22 is the one I can ride with.

I would have seriously considered a Fox Creek, but I don't like any of their current styles.

If you are welling to spend serious coin on a leather jacket, everyone's Top 3 American-made seem to be:

Langlitz
Vanson
Schott
Bingo on Schott! Harley is Chinese/Mexican junk, IMO (Okay, now I've done it!). I've owned a Schott Perfecto for many years now. The've been in business since the 20's I believe. Bullet-proof, and made to hand down to your children and grandchildren. Won't ever need another in my lifetime. Has killer patina now...keep her fed with leather care and she'll treat you right. Can't go wrong.

I've got a Roland Sands Ronin jacket. Love it. Thick leather and lined. has "pockets" to add armor if you desire. I think it would do a great job protecting me from road rash

A couple "negatives" if you will. Its not a great Summer jacket if the temps climb above the mid-80s. Also I found for a more relaxed fit I had to go up a size. If I picked my exact size, it was very fitted. Reminded me of my Dainese or Euro sized Jackets.

I'd definitely buy this jacket again.

Real Motorcycle jackets have snaps for the collar. I have the collar style. I don't like the wind cutting in in cold weather, so I use a leather dickie from Hot Leathers Or Captain' Itch.

When I lived in New England I had 2 jackets custom made at Vanson Leathers in Fall River MA. Great quality and they were easy to deal with.
