Beginning of the End?

I'm a millennial and I have a street glide and a Victory Highball. Also have a house, family, truck, van, high paying job, and retirement savings. Several of my friends (also millennials) have harleys...though the one is really fond of his Triumphs.
We're doing our part! Except for the guy with the Rocket 3, we'd tell him what we think about his brand but he's two counties ahead.

Keep up the good work, young man!

There are affordable bikes out there, but 600cc (and below) bikes just aren't considered "real" bikes any more. Used to be a 500 or 600 was a pretty big bike. Now many people feel they have to buy a 1000cc+ if they want to project the image of being a real motorcyclist. Costs are just too high for a lot of millennials.

My father made me learn how to drive a stick...wouldn't let me drive an automatic till I mastered it.
And one thing I never read in these reports on the motorcycle industry dying...the roads...most in the US are in bad shape, AND overpopulated with cars and semis...scares the chit out of a new rider...hell scares me and I have been riding for over 40 years

I'll bet the majority of us started riding some form of motor bike when relatively young.I don't see young kids wanting to ride ,or they have no place to ride if they had a minibike or cycle.Living in MCmansions in cloned housing tracts, there are no accessible riding areas.
Most people I see that picks up riding later in life seem to give it up after awhile. You need to get bit by the bug early to stick with it throughout your lifetime.

When we finished he went in the house, and when he came back out he threw me a set of keys. They were to his wife's CB350, and he said "let's go for a ride". He jumped on his CB750, and off we went. We rode for about an hour, and I loved every minute of it. Keep in mind I was only around 14-15 years old at the time, but was bitten by the bug big time.
To this day I dog him, and blame him for my addiction to motorcycles, he just laughs. He is one of the good ones, and I'll NEVER forget him or that day.
