Safety Vest....puss equipment??

I don't wear a safety vest but do like to wear bright orange HD shirts. And how can a safety vest be puss equipment if Harley sells all kinds of hi-viz and reflective safety gear https://www.wisconsinharley.com/mens...e-hi-viz-gear/ .

I don't wear a safety vest, but my black cold weather jacket has reflective stripes and my white mesh jacket for hot weather has armor and reflective stripes. I wear a white helmet that also has a couple reflective dots. I also have added LED lights front and rear on my bike.
Of course, the texting idiots still don't see me, but I figure every little bit helps, and I could care less what some young fool thinks about it. Then again, when I was a young fool, (I admit that I was one, and have the scars to prove it) I probably scoffed at riders wearing helmets in non helmet states.

When I travel (tour), I'll put one in the bag. It comes out if I have to pull off the road for some reason. That has come in handy in the past when a buddy broke down along I-75 in FL. I gave him the vest while he was working on his bike while it set next to the highway. Interestingly, a FL Trooper did a U-Turn to see what we were up to and noted that she liked the vest as it was the first thing she saw when she spotted it along side the Interstate. Anyway...food for thought.

So as I have gotten older I have become much more safety conscious and now wear a safety vest day or night. The other weekend I went on a Toys for Tots ride. I overheard some “********” comment to his buddy about my ***** equipment. I just wondered who wears a safety vest not living on a military base where they are required. I find it makes me more noticeable than when I don’t wear one.

I'm just wondering how any of us survived with one 6v taillight, headlight, drum brakes (rear only), foot clutch, jockey shift, springer front end, kick start, oil leaking motor in a ridged frame (no shocks) all dressed in black with nothing more than a bandanna to protect your head, days.
Maybe it was the loud pipes that everyone always told me would save my ars.

Okay,Seriously, I've never considered wearing a safety vest. Guessing it wouldn't hurt.
