Discussion of Garmin Zumo GPS units

After using the 595 pretty intensively for the last two weeks, here are some additional comments.
1. The 595 will allow you to reliably Bluetooth-connect your iPhone and your Sena headset to the Zumo. Thus, you can access and control your iPhone, including its music playlists, through the Zumo rather than through the headset. This makes it far more convenient to take phone calls or select music to play. No more fumbling with the iPhone itself. The 66X units would not reliably do this. The 59X does.
2. The traffic feature actually works and works well, through the Garmin App.
3. Spotify and Pandora work great.
4. The other "alert" options on the Zumo are not useful and I turned them off. (Easy to turn them off, just uncheck the boxes). I found them annoying.
In addition to the above, and I said this before, the feature whereby the unit tells you the upcoming cross-street is really useful. I was navigating around in Santa Monica yesterday, and it was invaluable.

Your Garmin and my TomTom both appear to need a smartphone or wifi hotspot to get traffic alerts.
My car sat-nav has a built in data connection to get traffic alerts so it can automatically route you round traffic hold ups, closed roads, etc.
Why they didn't build that into these who knows.
Reading the highlight features of the Garmin, if it has a resistive touch screen then it will restrict light flow compared to the capacitive screen on a smartphone.

I found this Captain. I don't see it listed as a current model but it still shows up on their website

I don't believe so. The last Garmin to have XM/Sirius was the 665 which was discontinued a few years ago.
