Question for the masses
Good afternoon all,
Over the next 5 years i will be building a softail for my daughter. It is going to be either a shovel or an evo and i cant decide which. I have found both to be reliable when properly built and she likes the looks of both.
Anyone have input on which they think will be better one way or the other?

If this is a first bike, the EVO has more modern amenities and may be more reliable. As for cool factor, I like the shovel better.
If it was for my daughter, I would get her the EVO which I think would be less troublesome, although reliability has much to do with how it is maintained, so in this case, it may be a moot point.

Yeah watching some young thing getting busy with a kicker gives me a chubby.
OP being honest and for practicality sake evo is the better bet for this . Opens lots more opportunities for things during the build and parts sourcing.

Nah,,
Build the bike, with 5yrs of custom parts,,and by all means make it a classic shovel.
But don't insult the Shovel build with a soft tail.
That's just wrong..

Bit of little known history for you the original softail frame design was pre evo. MoCo bought patent rights from a couple independent custom builders, look in some late 70's early 80's chopper mags they used have ad's in the back. First rolling softail was going to be a shovel but the moco decided to hold on release till the evo motor was ready to make its debut so they could drop a complete new engine and product line on the market with the massive new marketing scheme. Rest is history.
