Default Replaced fuel filter in 06 Wide glide, bike runs worse and dies

I've got an 06 Dyna wide glide, 25.000 km, bike was bucking on me occasionally at high speed (highway speed) clutch and all is good, so replaced the fuel filter (mine was black), pretty hard to put that assembly back together wrong, but how the bike has a hard time starting, runs for 30 second and dies, I tried taking it for a ride and it bucks and wants to die constantly, any pointers? New at this, thanks!

Check the basics such as your fuel line. Check for trouble codes to determine if your issue is fuel related or something else? How did you determine that the fuel filter was the cause of the problem? If your filter was black perhaps your injectors are partially clogged? When you pulled the pump did you check the lines in the tank? If that is all good then the next step would be to check the fuel pressure to see if it is in spec.

I'll be sure to check all of that out, thank you.

I edited my post as you should check for trouble codes as well.

I know this sounds really dumb but it is possible you bought a bad tank of gas?

Check the variable speed sensor. If its dirty clean it off or replace it. If that doesn't help check the fuel lines inside the tank. IDK if the bike has a vented gas cap or not but that's an easy one to check as well. If it does have a vent and its clogged it could cause the symptoms you are having.

You might need to recheck and make sure everything went together right and you're not sucking air. I'd think you would smell fuel if this was the case though.

The fuel filter housing has a tendency to crack and not hold the filter up in place all the way and can lead to fuel pressure loss.

What Harley Charlie said. I'd either get back back into it, or take it to a shop to have the fuel pressure checked. It sounds like it may be leaking internally and bleeding off fuel pressure. That's what your symptoms indicate. I had a cracked pressure regulator housing in mine. Did exactly what you are describing, except worse.
