Default 3 inches.... Who'd of thunk it?

So yeah, I'm one of the old throw back guys who like chrome, white walls and fishtails. On bikes AND cars, lol. Anyways, a while back I bought an el-cheapo set of eBay standard 33 inch fishtails, and threw them on my Road King. Was never really happy with the sound, and they always just seemed a bit short. Which suprised me, because I normally LOVE that fishtail crackle. So in the end, I ditched them and went with cored stockers. I recently came across a great deal on a set of 36 inch fishtails and just thought I would give fishtails another shot? I was totally blown away at the difference 3 inches made! Besides the obvious, they just look better with a proper "stick-out" style, I was blown away at the sound difference that 3 inches made. Much lower, more bassy sound, much quieter on the interstate, but all the acceleration "rap" that

fishtails are famous for. So I guess the point of this post is to share a couple pics comparing the two lengths, for anyone who may be thinking about a set, and to share my experiences in having them on my bike. Besides, I wanted to get my fishtails on my bike BEFORE Mayan's MC premiers, so at least I can say I had that style bike.... BEFORE that show came out! Ha!

Your bike looks great bikerlaw. I see you also swapped your rear turns for Cadillac style lights also.

I must have spent hours deciding on the length of fishtails I wanted. I figured if they were too long I'd bust a shin on them walking around the bike or I'd scrape them backing up to a curb when parking. I finally settled on the 28.5". This was all before delivery of my bike back in late 2011. When I do it again I will probably go with the 36s.

I, too, am a sucker for chrome, whitewalls and fishtails.

Heck yeah! When I saw what they did to the new Heritage, replacing gorgeous chrome with black, I knew we were a dying breed.... Sigh

That is why I bought a 2017 instead of the 2018's.

If I was shopping for new, yeah..... Not giving up my chrome for nothing! Not taking anything away from Blacked out. Its just Not my style. My brother recently bought a 2018 Road Glide. All blacked out. I can say this, all the blacked out parts are high gloss. That's a whole different animal from the flat or denim black craze Sons of Anarchy fans seemed to embrace..... Lol. Not hatin', not hatin'..... I'm just more of a Mayan/Vicla style guy.
