Transmission problem well at least I think for a 883 iron 2016
I’m have issues with 2016 883 iron. When I’m on the highway going about 120kms in 5th gear and I ease off the throttle and then go back to give it more gas. On my gauge it goes back to 3rd then it takes a while to get back to 5th with out me shifting. And during that time when it’s happening you can hear the bike reving high when it’s in 3rd then back to normal when the gauge reads it back in 5th. Does anyone know what’s going on and would know a rough estimate of the cost to fix? Thanks for taking time to read this it would be much appreciated for your help and take a bit of a load off my mind!

Don't fully understand what you mean by "On my gauge it goes back to 3rd" but to me it sounds like the clutch is slipping and thats why the RPM's rise. If it were me I would adjust the clutch and go for a test ride to see if that fixes the problem. The only thing I can think of is a burnt clutch.

Your gear indicator is not mechanical per se, it uses a computer to figure what gear you're in by correalating speed VS. RPM. So, my guess would be your clutch is slipping, especially considering the loud rev you are hearing. Couldn't give you a $$ figure because you may need a simple adjustment or a new clutch, or clutch springs. Not the most expensive repair in the book, but still a PITA.

Yep, unless someone snuck in and installed a CVT while you had your back turned, your clutch is slipping. How many km/miles on the bike? Clutch shouldn’t be bad on a ‘16 unless it’s been out of adjustment or had the snot ridden out of it...my money is on mis-adjusted, and maybe burned plates if you’ve done that rev/slip thing more than once or twice.

Yup, clutch slipping. My old Victory Vision had the gear indicator like the HD's (speed vs. RPM calculation). I could psych it out by pulling the clutch in just enough to loosen the clutch plates but not disengage the switch so the CPU thought it was in gear. As I increased the RPM's the gear indicator would drop down in gears as the RPM rose since the CPU thought I was downshifting.
