I got my letter for my Road King. The dealer here is pretty nonchalant about it. I called about getting an apt. and they had the opinion I should just deal with it when I get my next service appointment, like it isn't that big of a deal. They didn't really want to schedule an apt just for this but they grudgingly scheduled it two weeks out. Attitude seemed to be annoyance towards the recall rather than taking it as anything serious. Surprising as this time of year I would think they would want business with everyone hanging it up.

I also put the Oberon lever on my Road King and it helped but, it's still not like the cable clutch.

Are any of you taking the chance of riding before getting the recall fixed?

It's not a problem until it is a problem. My suggestion is get it fixed as quickly as possible!

I would not be starting my bike in gear, a path to destruction. Riding another make for years that had a reputation for clutch cables breaking on a regular basis taught me to be prepared for unexpected movement. It would seem to me that we would feel impending failure at the lever with a hydraulic clutch but if it is an instant failure you should be ready anyway. I think this is pretty much to do about nothing. I have had to ride many miles with no clutch, no big deal. Both of the cages in my household have been recalled for the interface that prevents you from putting the vehicle in gear without stepping on the brake first.. Big Brother gone crazy. I will have all of these recalls done when I feel like it and it is convenient for me and continue to ride and drive..

@Biker Rogue - yes sir - I have a 2019 RS and it launched at start up as a result of the secondary hydraulic clutch actuator. I started the bike in gear with the clutch fully pulled in. Had I been paying better attention at 4 a.m. in the morning I would have realized that the clutch pulled in way too easy.
I got luck and kept her up and hit the kill switch....dealership picked up the bike where I stopped it.
glad I wasn't in traffic.
I have ordered the AIM part which not only replaces the defective secondary hydraulic clutch actuator, it also reduces clutch pull by 40% and brings the friction zone in closer to the grip which is great for slow speed maneuvering.
while visiting my dealership this week 11/12/2018 I noticed another 2019 RGS in the shop... when I queried my mech he said "clutch failure like your bike".

Thank you sir. Very interesting. I wonder if it works with the hydraulic softail models. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on this thread. I'm waiting to do the recall until after the winter which will give the dealer some time to work out the kinks. However I would much rather fix myself with a better product.
